What does a website health check cover?

A website health check is a structured review of the pages people rely on. Start with your homepage, a key service or product page, and a contact or checkout journey. Check each on a phone as well as a desktop. A homepage can look healthy while a broken form or product template still prevents customers from completing a task.

Check the page before chasing a score

Open each page and follow its main action. Look for broken navigation, unreadable text, intrusive overlays and missing images. Confirm that the address uses HTTPS and that the browser does not show a certificate warning. HTTPS protects the connection; it does not prove that every part of the application is secure.

Review search and performance signals

Give each important page a descriptive title and a clear main heading. Check that its summary matches the content and that informative images have appropriate alternative text. Run a mobile performance test on the same URL, then inspect the slow elements rather than focusing only on the overall score.

Create a useful repair list

Record the affected URL, the observed issue and the expected behavior. Fix broken journeys first, then recurring template problems, then smaller content improvements. Assign an owner and retest the same page after each change. Keep screenshots or notes so the next review can distinguish a new regression from an existing issue.
