Extension privacy policy
Version 0.6.1 · Effective 29 October 2026
Scope and operator
PageNostic is a website-diagnostics Chrome extension and a product of LiteCloud. This policy covers extension version 0.6.1. For privacy questions or support, contact LiteCloud through litecloud.io/contact-us/. The PageNostic website, any email-testing service, and the LiteCloud contact website are separate services; their processing is not described as local extension processing.
Local inspection and optional automatic scanning
Opening the PageNostic toolbar popup scans the current supported page on your device. The extension processes the page URL, metadata, headings, image attributes, resource references and a bounded portion of serialized page markup to identify technologies and perform eight basic checks. Markup can include content from signed-in pages when access is granted. Raw page HTML is processed transiently, not saved as a report or uploaded by the local scanner. Technology evidence is descriptive; it is not a copy of the full page. Auto scan is off by default. Enabling it requests optional HTTP/HTTPS website access and permits local scans approximately 4.5 seconds after future page loads, including accessible signed-in pages. Disable Auto scan to stop future automatic scans; site permissions can also be changed in Chrome. Incognito use is not supported.
What stays on your device
Local scan reports, their page URLs with query parameters and fragments removed, technology names, check results and timestamps are kept in Chrome extension session memory. Reports are replaced by subsequent scans and removed on navigation or tab close while the extension is running. Page paths and page-derived check details can still be sensitive. PageSpeed summaries, personal API keys and temporary rate-limit state are also held in session storage, not Chrome Sync or persistent local storage. Session storage is cleared when Chrome restarts or the extension is reloaded, updated, disabled or removed. Clear session data removes these records and the personal key. The auto-scan preference and an internal migration-version value are stored persistently in local extension storage. Session storage is restricted to trusted extension contexts; it is not an encrypted secret vault.
PageSpeed: an optional external test
The local scanner never automatically requests a Google test. Before either a PageSpeed API test or opening a Google report, you must review the exact public URL and select the confirmation checkbox. Query parameters and fragments are removed. Obvious private addresses, IP-address URLs, non-standard ports and common sign-in or token-bearing routes are blocked. These checks cannot identify every sensitive path, DNS destination or redirect. You are responsible for selecting a non-confidential, publicly accessible page; you can choose its homepage. Removing query parameters may change the page being tested. When requested, the selected URL, device mode and any personal API key are sent to Google over HTTPS. Google also receives ordinary connection information, including your IP address. The API fetch omits browser credentials, cookies and referrer information. PageNostic does not upload the inspected page HTML, local technology report or browser cookies to Google. Google fetches the public page itself and processes requests under its own policies. Opening the external PageSpeed website is a normal browser navigation, to which that website's own cookies and privacy practices may apply. Google API availability, account restrictions and quotas apply; PageNostic does not guarantee a successful test.
Cache freshness and deletion
Up to 40 PageSpeed URL/device summaries are retained in session memory. A summary may be reused for 30 minutes. Expired summaries are deleted on the next cache read or write, not by a continuous 30-minute deletion timer. All session summaries are also removed by Clear session data or a browser restart. Clearing data does not prevent future scans from creating new reports. Old persistent PageSpeed records and API keys from prior PageNostic versions are removed by the upgrade migration.
Personal API keys
A personal Google API key is optional. A key is transmitted only to Google for an API test you request and is excluded from exports. It is stored for the browser session and can be removed with Remove or Clear session data. Restrict your key to the PageSpeed Insights API and monitor its quota. Never use a private shared developer key embedded in a distributed copy of this extension. No shared API credential is supplied by this release.
Exports
JSON export is a user-initiated local download with an additional confirmation. It contains local diagnostics and matching unexpired PageSpeed summaries, but not API keys, query parameters or fragments. Page paths and check details may still be sensitive. Exported files remain wherever you save them until you delete them; clearing extension storage does not remove downloaded files.
Support and no paid-service promotions
This release contains no paid-service offers, sales buttons, subscriptions, affiliate links or score-triggered promotions. All included diagnostic features are available without a purchase. PageNostic remains a product of LiteCloud. Support and privacy contact links in this policy open the separate LiteCloud contact website only when clicked. No scanned website URL, score, API key or lead is appended to those links or automatically sent to LiteCloud. Information you choose to submit on the external contact website is processed separately under its own policy. PageNostic contains no third-party advertising, analytics beacon, browsing-profile collection or affiliate tracking.
Limited Use and data sharing
PageNostic uses information obtained through browser access and Google APIs only to deliver the disclosed diagnostics and related operation of those features. Its handling follows the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy and Limited Use requirements. It does not sell user data, use browsing activity or derived reports for personalized advertising, or use this information for credit or lending decisions. LiteCloud does not receive or read your local reports unless you separately choose to send specific information for support. Google receives only the requested external test information described above. No other report-sharing endpoint is implemented by this release.
Your controls and changes
Use manual scans instead of granting automatic access, decline Google tests, remove your personal API key, clear session data, revoke optional site access in Chrome, delete exported files or uninstall the extension. Reports already sent to Google and data voluntarily submitted on external websites are subject to those providers' policies. Material changes to extension data handling must be reflected in an updated policy and any required user disclosures. Contact LiteCloud through the contact page for questions. Effective date: 29 October 2026.
